Board of Management 2015/2019

Our Board of Management is made up of people who work together to manage the school on behalf of the stakeholders. The members of the new Board will commence their four-year term next month, finishing in November 2019. The Board of Management has two patron nominees, two teacher nominees and two parent nominees, one mother and one father. These six people co-opt two people from the wider community, making a total of eight Board of Management members.

On Wednesday 2nd December a meeting of parents will be held at 7.30pm in the school to select the two parent nominees. Nominations will be accepted at the meeting. In the event that more than one nomination is received for the father’s position and the mother’s position, a vote will take place at the meeting.

Christmas Shoebox Appeal

The children in C.B.S. Primary School have been supporting the Team Hope Christmas Shoebox Appeal for many years. During the month of November each year the girls and boys fill shoeboxes with small gifts such as colouring pencils, toys, sunglasses, hats, sweets, copies, pens and various other items. When the boxes are wrapped in Christmas paper they are displayed in the school. The children enjoy watching the “wall of boxes” getting bigger each day. This year Team Hope plans to send shoeboxes from Ireland  to street children, orphans, children in hospital, poor families, victims of war or other needy situations in countries such as Albania, Kosova, Moldova, Burundi, Lesotho and Rwanda. It is great that children in C.B.S. Primary school have taken the time to fill 80 shoeboxes with gifts which will bring so much pleasure and happiness to needy children in less well –off countries.

Construction Work

Thank you to everybody for your understanding and cooperation in relation to the construction work. Safety remains a high priority for us and the core work of the school is continuing uninterrupted. A lot of unseen work is being done in the school field where progress is being made on building the school gym which will be a shared facility for both C.B.S. Primary and C.B.S. Secondary Schools. Work at the front of the Primary School has been delayed of late. However, with all services now in place underground we expect to have the front completed before the Christmas Holidays.

December 8th

Tuesday 8th December is a holy day, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. School will be open that day and we will mark the occasion with mass at 11.30am in Bride Street Church. Parents and other family members will be very welcome to attend. Supervision will be provided in the school for children of different faiths whose parents opt for them not to attend.

The final day of the first term will be Tuesday 22nd December with school closing at 1.50pm for Infant Classes and at 2.50pm for classes from 1st to 6th.
