Child Protection In-service
New procedures in relation to Child Protection came into effect in December 2017. In order to facilitate the holding of Child Protection in-service for staff, the Department of Education has given approval for all schools to close for two half days in this school year. We have selected Thursday 1st and Wednesday 14th February as our days. School will close at 12.45p.m. on both days. After-school Club and Homework Club will not be held on those days.

Parent Association A.G.M.
The Parent Association A.G.M. will take place in the school on Monday 5th February. The meeting will start at 7.30p.m. with a presentation in relation to First Aid by members of the Order of Malta, following which the A.G.M. will commence.

Credit Union Quiz
January is quiz time in the school and we are eagerly looking forward to the annual Credit Union Schools Quiz which will take place in the Ferrycarrig Hotel on Monday 29th January. The members of our four quiz teams have been preparing very well and we wish them the best of luck in the competition.
Team A Marcus Doyle, Neil Hession, Conal Dwyer and Mark Kavanagh
Team B Dylan McBride, Jack Clare, James Browne and Eoin Maher
Team A Cillian Joss, Lewis Hession, Griff McHugh Jones and Kian Roche

School Closures
The next closures will be the two half days in February, Thursday 1st and Wednesday 14th, closing at 12.45p.m. We will close for just two days for the February mid-term break, Thursday 15th and Friday 16th.

The attendance figure for the school year to date is 93.8%.

Enrolment September 2018
There are places available in the school for the coming school year. If you are aware of parents who might be interested, please let them know that the enrolment form can be completed on-line on the school’s website or a form can be requested from our school secretary, Mary Goodison.

Swimming Grant
As a part of the Healthy Ireland , Get Ireland Swimming Initiative, we have received financial support for our swimming programme by way of a grant of €500 towards the cost. The children in classes from 1st to 4th participate in swimming lessons each year. Parents pay the majority of the cost of the lessons and transport to and from the pool. The school has been subsidising this activity for many years and the grant will be of great assistance this year. The financial support is being facilitated by Sport Active Wexford, Healthy Ireland, Swim Ireland and Wexford County Council LCDC.

Construction Project
The construction of the new C.B.S. Secondary School is nearing completion. The provisional date for the students and staff to move into the new building is Monday 19th February. When they leave the temporary accommodation, which is at the rear of our single-storey building, some work will need to be completed on the premises in advance of us moving into that building. We will need to move everything from our current buildings into the temporary accommodation. This will be a major undertaking and as we get closer to the date of the move we will be asking for your assistance. I expect that the work on our school will continue until the Halloween break at least.

Computer Event for Parents
Trevor Murphy from Kids Coding Club, Computing at Schools and will present an information night for parents entitled, “Why should your kids become involved in Computing and Coding and how you can help”, on Thursday 8th February between 7.00p.m. and 8.00p.m. The event will take place in the school and is open to all parents, not just parents of C.B.S. Primary pupils. You can get further information and purchase tickets by clicking on the link below. All money raised at the event will be donated to C.B.S. Primary School.
