Tables 1st to 6th Classes

Knowledge of tables is essential when learning Mathematics. Children need to master them and to master anything requires practise. Tables are so important that if children don’t master them it will be very difficult for them to progress in many aspects of Mathematics. We encourage you to make time to assist your child at home with the learning of tables.

School Closures

This year our February Mid-term break will be just two days. We will be closed on Thursday 18th and Friday 19th February. We have opted to take a full week in May when school will be closed from Monday 2nd to Friday 6th May.

Board of Management

The current members of the school’s Board of Management are:

Patron’s Nominees — Fr Aodhán Marken (Chairperson) and Liz Murphy

Parents’ Nominees — Lucy Small and Sylvester Donegan

Teachers’ Nominees — Mairead Parle and Jos Furlong

Community Nominees — Ann Duggan and Sinead Casey

Tin Whistle Tuition

The girls and boys in Ms Cosgrave’s 2nd Class have commenced Tin Whistle lessons during school time. There are also after-school classes for children in higher classes on Monday afternoons, 3 p.m. until 3.45 p.m. There are still places available at the after-school session. Both sets of lessons are being conducted by Eve Kelly. Eve is a graduate of the World Academy of Music and Dance at the University of Limerick.

Car Park at front of the school

Progress on the car park at the front of the school has been very slow. However, “the end is in sight”. We are expecting that it will available to us shortly. The car park will be for use by school staff and visitors to the school during the school day. There won’t be enough room for parents to drive in when dropping children in the morning or collecting in the evening.

Concerned Parents for Secondary Education in Wexford”

At the inaugural meeting a decision was taken to form a group to lobby for a new secondary school for Wexford and to keep the pressure on the Department of Education and politicians to find places for children who are still without a place for September 2016. It was decided that the group would be strengthened by each school nominating two parents onto the committee to assist the campaign and to act as liaison between each primary school. If you are interested please contact the school in the next few days.

Date for your Diary

Tuesday 15th March 2016 has been designated Proclamation Day. A number of our teachers have been busy making plans for our school to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the 1916 Easter Rising. There will be more information about Proclamation Day in the February Newsletter. The children are currently learning about the 1916 Rising as part of their History programme.
