Parents Association AGM
The AGM was held on Wednesday 30th January and a committee of ten members was elected. Following this meeting, the following parents were elected as officers at the first meeting held on February 6th.
Chairperson: Samantha Donegan Vice Chairperson: Maire McBride
Secretary: Caroline Losak  Assistant Secretary: Linda Lowry
Treasurer: Kinga Sayollowske  Assistant Treasurer: Siobhán McEvoy
Committee members: Paulina Klinger, Jaime Barry, Kasia Bobrowska, Margaret O Rourke.
Congratulations and sincere thanks to all.
At this meeting several items were discussed, namely the school uniform, school photographs and healthy eating policy.
The Student Council, on behalf of the pupils of the school have asked that parents be surveyed regarding the current school uniform. The Parents Association Committee have very kindly agreed to do this. As such, a survey will issue via Aladdin and parents will be asked to answer questions regarding the uniform as currently prescribed. For those parents who do not use Aladdin, a paper survey will issue. This is a fact finding mission at the moment so nothing will change without further consultation.

Healthy Eating Policy
As a school we are very interested in the promotion of healthy eating habits in our pupils. We have devised a Healthy Eating Policy and this will be available on our school website from Monday 11th February. Three 6th class students, Griff, Lucas and James, gave a very informative presentation on the sugar content in foods to pupils at both assemblies last Monday. Following on from this, the children have been looking at healthy foods and how to make lunchboxes healthier. The policy was examined and is supported by the Parents Association Committee and we will be commencing enforcement of this policy from Monday 11th February. If you have any questions please contact the school.

School Photographs
School photographs will be taken in March. Again, thanks to the Parents Association Committee for their feedback and support in booking the photographers. Photographs will be taken by a company called ‘County Photos’. They have vast experience in dealing with schools and can offer huge selection of print sizes, frames, mounts and novelty items such as key rings, snow globes etc. and all are very keenly priced.

We are now accepting enrolments for Junior Infants for September 2019. If you are aware of any parents who want to enrol their child with CBS Primary, and have not yet done so, please advise them to enrol their child before February 22nd 2019. Forms are available from the office and on the school website. Thank you.
We have had a wonderful 6 weeks of Gymnastics with our Coaches from Wexford Gymnastics. The children have learned many skills are there is an overall improvement in both core strength and flexibility. The cost for the programme was €12 per child for the 6 weeks which is terrific value for money.

Grandparents/Parents day
Next Friday, February 15th we will celebrate both parents and grandparents with a Mass in Bride Street Church at 11am. There will be refreshments served back at the school and all parents/grandparents are invited back for the afternoon. The children are very excited and are working on invitations. We look forward to seeing as many of you as are available. We expect the event to be finished by 12.45 pm. Thank you.

Vetting for Parents
In our school we run several programmes to support the learning experiences of our pupils. On occasion we do need extra people to assist us. If you are interested in helping in any way, please contact Mary in the Office for a vetting form. We would really appreciate your help. Thank you.

Voluntary Contribution
The voluntary contribution of €30 per family is now due for payment. We are delighted to be able to offer this as an electronic payment via Aladdin and we thank you in advance of your support. The voluntary contribution is used by the Parents Association to fund various items and programmes which are of benefit to our pupils.

Credit Union Quiz Teams
CBS once again performed brilliantly in the School’s Credit Union Table Quiz. Our ‘CBS A’ u-13 team were overall winners and now progress to the next round in Gorey. Our other u-13 team and u-11 teams also did us proud and are a credit to themselves and their parents. Well done boys and girls! Please see school website/Facebook for Photos.

GAA For Infants
Junior and senior Infants have skills training and development every Thursday Morning. Children may wear tracksuit on these days.
Sacrament of Reconciliation
Our Second Class pupils will receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Thursday 14th March at 7pm in Bride Street Church. Our First Class Junior Choir members will provide the music for the Mass and we are practicing very hard for this. We will be in touch closer to the time regarding numbers and availability of children for the choir for this Mass. Thank you.

The RSE (Relationships and Sexual Education) curriculum will be taught in the coming weeks. Copies of the content which were previously sent in hard copy, will now be emailed to parents, in line with our Green School policy.  If you have any questions please contact the school. Teachers will answer any queries you may have in relation to this part of the Social Personal and Health Education teaching.
