Credit Union Quiz Winners
The children on all four teams represented the school very well in the recently-held Credit Union Quiz. Those on one of the Under-13 teams lost out to Barntown National School by just one point. The team members were Calum Corcoran, Darby Purcell, Jack Corcoran and Joe Dangerfield.
In the Under-11 category the members of one of the teams were involved in a tie-break with Blackwater National School. Our pupils came out on top and will now represent the school and the Wexford District in the Chapter Final next month. Congratulations to Jake Gilshinan, Conal Dwyer, Neil Hession and Jack Clare. For the first time ever we had pupils from 3rd Class on our team. Well done in particular to Conal and Jack.
Learning of Tables
A reminder of our emphasis on the learning of tables in classes from 1st to 6th and we ask that you continue to support your child with this learning at home.

School Car Park
The new school car park is now open. Thanks to everybody for accepting that we don’t have space in the car park to accommodate children being dropped off in the morning or picked up in the afternoon. However, if you are visiting during the school day you may park in any available space.
Handball Success
Congratulations to Jamie Barnes in 3rd Class on winning the Rackard League Under-11 County handball title. This was a great achievement as Jamie will be eligible for the Under-11 age group for another two years. Jamie participated in the Leinster stage of the schools’ competition and was runner-up in the Leinster Final.
Mid-term Break
A reminder that this year our February Mid-term break will be just two days. We will be closed on Thursday 18th and Friday 19th February. We have opted to take a full week in May when school will be closed from Monday 2nd to Friday 6th May.
As the school will be in use for polling on the day of the General Election it will be closed to pupils on Friday 26th February.
For many years we have been supporting the mission work of the Christian Brothers in Zambia with money being raised by the pupils through the sale of shamrock. We plan to continue with this worthwhile fundraising this year. The children will shortly receive order cards and hopefully you’ll be in a position to support our annual project which raises in the region of €800 each year.
Book Fair
Our annual Book Fair will take place in the school on Monday 22nd February. Each class will have a time slot to view the books and a separate time to make purchases. Parents will be welcome to come along at the purchasing times. Parents of pupils in the Junior and Senior Infant classes can also visit the Book Fair when collecting the children at 1.50p.m. The children will receive a World Book Day voucher, which will entitle them to a reduction of €1.50 on the book of their choice. The school will receive commission in books and these books will go directly to classrooms to supplement the class libraries.
Proclamation Day 2016
On Tuesday 15th March commemoration ceremonies to mark Proclamation Day will take place in schools all over Ireland. Our ceremony will take place in the school car park, commencing at 11.30a.m. I would like to invite you and your extended family to attend.
The members of the organising committee are putting the finishing touches to what promises to be a memorable ceremony. Mayor Ger Carthy will be in attendance and we will have Irish traditional music, a reading of the 1916 Proclamation by a member of the Defence Forces and the unveiling of a plaque in our Gairdín na Saoirse (The Garden of Freedom). Our school choir will sing on the day, some of our pupils will read their Proclamations for 2016, the national flag will be raised by members of the Defence Forces and the whole school will join in the singing of Irish songs.
School Tours
The majority of the school tours have been booked for the final term. If you would like spread out the cost payments can be made on an instalment basis.
