Results of the School Uniform Survey

There was a great response to the survey regarding the current school uniform, so thank you very much.

The results have also been fed back to the student council as they initiated the process by approaching Ms Barron and the Parent Association.

  • ·         60% are happy with the current school uniform
  • ·         64% are happy with the current school jumper
  • ·         78% are happy to replace the shirt with a light blue polo shirt
  • ·         77% are happy to replace black shoes with runners
  • ·         70% are happy for infants to wear navy tracksuit bottoms 5 days a week
  • ·         62% are happy for a P.E uniform to be introduced

There was also a vast amount of responses regarding the section under other comments. The majority of responses were requesting

  • ·         ½ zip or similar
  • ·         Generic tracksuit bottoms

On behalf of the student council and the Parent Association, thank you so much for completing the survey.

Kind Regards

Sam Donegan

(Parent Association Chairperson)

Thanks to the Student Council who asked for the survey, to the Parents Association for creating the survey and thank you to all our parents who responded. Following from this we will be introducing a P.E. uniform for the summer term. This will consist of a light blue polo shirt and navy tracksuit/sportswear bottoms. These are available to purchase cheaply from any of the retail outlets in town. We are currently looking at samples of half zips and will keep you informed accordingly. Children will be expected to wear school uniform and the P.E. uniform on designated days. Current 6th class pupils will be exempt from purchasing the polo shirt but will still be expected to wear school uniform and/or PE clothes on designated days.

From September we will not be asking parents to purchase a shirt as part of our uniform. We will issue updated uniform lists with booklists in June. Thank you for your support.

Official Opening and blessing of the School

We will celebrate our official opening on Thursday June 13th at 1.30pm with a blessing and a celebration of our school. All our families will be invited, and refreshments will be served.

Opening times of our school for the next academic year.

We will be conducting a poll as to changing our opening times for the coming academic year. We will be asking you if you wish school to begin at 9.00am instead of 9.10am and finish at 1.40pm and 2.40pm respectfully. This poll will be conducted via Aladdin for those who have the app and through a paper survey for those who don’t. Thanks.

Book Fair

The Book Fair was a great success and special thanks to the members of our Parents Association who organised and ran the Book Fair for the Week. All outstanding books have been ordered and we expect to have them shortly after the break .

Aldi Rugby stickers

Thank you all for your overwhelming support in filling our sticker charts. We managed to fill 5 charts and will keep our fingers crossed so that we are in with a chance of winning €50,000 to develop sports facilities at our school.

Communion and Confirmation

Confirmation will take place on Saturday 18th May in Bride Street and Sunday 19th May for those making their confirmation in Rowe Street. Communion will take place on Saturday 25th May and Communion children will be invited back to the school for refreshments after the Mass.

Best of luck to our boys who will play the semi-final on Thursday May 2nd at 3.00pm in Bellefield, Enniscorthy. Thanks to Br. Kinsella, Mr. O Sullivan and Ray Harris for their hard work in training the boys. Loch Garman Abú.

Credit Union Table Quiz

Huge congratulations to our quiz team, Dylan, Conal, James and Jack. They performed brilliantly at the all-Ireland final and did us proud. They finished in the top 11 out of 49 teams. The boys are among the best and brightest in the country. Thank you and well-done boys! Thanks also to Mr. Cummings who prepared these talented young men so well.

Swimming

We are on our final block of swimming and we hope all the children have had a great time. The staff of the swimming pool have complimented the behaviour and manners of our boys and girls, and we are delighted to hear this.

Rounders

The girls from 3rd to 6th have been very busy training on our very first girls’ rounders team. We had a visit from Eamonn Barrett, rounders advocate and coach who worked with the girls. They will have some matches in the Summer term. Special thanks to Miss Coady for training the girls.

Choir

Our junior choir (1st and 2nd Classes) will sing at the communion mass on the 25th of May. They are practicing a lot and are very excited.

Our senior choir (3rd to 5th classes) will provide the music for confirmation masses on both Sat 18th May in Bride Street and Sunday 19th May in Rowe street. These wonderful songbirds are a delight to work with.

Communication

We are trying to keep everyone as up to date as possible with news and events. We are communicating mostly through Aladdin which should send a text to parents who do not have the app. If you have any issues, please do call in. We would be delighted to chat with you. If you are aware of parents who are not getting messages, please ask them to call in/phone us so we can ensure the information gets to them.

Similarly, if you have any concerns, please do contact the school on 053-9141324.

We hope you have a safe and happy Easter.
