Taekwon-do
Taekwon-do originated in South Korea.
The founder of taekwon-do was General Choi.
General Choi devised tae kwon-do in the early 1900’s as the Korean army
needed it for hand to hand combat.
Taekwon-do consists of three main things; hand, foot and mind.
In the year 2000, taekwon-do became an Olympic event. Taekwon-do is not
a sport but a martial art.
Our taekwon–do school is based in the Faythe school. Our
instructor’s name is Mr. Niall O’Leary.
Our assistant instructor’s name is Padraig O’Brien.
We train on Tuesdays and Thursdays from seven pm to nine thirty. Anyone
is allowed to join. You might not be good at first but it’s a work in
progress.
To get up to the next belt you have to pass your grading. To pass your
grading you have to perform a pattern and do movement up and down the floor,
fight and answer questions on taekwon-do history.
Taekwon-do is a fun thing to do all year round.

Taekwondo medal winners
We all have all won medals and trophies.
We were all in a competition on the 8th of June.
Vitalik came first, Graham came second in spite of a broken wrist, and
Warren and Conor came 3rd.
We were all delighted with our achievements.
Especially Vitalik because it was his first tournament.
By Conor, Graham, Warren and Vitalik.
