Green Schools Project
Boys on our Green Schools Committee
"Green-Schools is a Europe Wide project
designed to encourage and acknowledge whole-school action for the
environment. Its aim is to move from environmental awareness in the
curriculum to environmental action in the school and wider
community."
At C.B.S. we’re all working together and hope to submit our
application for a Green Flag at the end of the year. Teachers, Parents
and Pupils have formed a committee, which oversees the implementation
of the programme.
We’ve made huge inroads in the reduction of waste going to
landfill and have a "Litter Policy" which ensures the all
fruit waste goes into compost bins (to be used later on the school
garden) and paper, card and batteries are recycled.
Our Green School Notice Board keeps everyone up to date on what’s
going on. The next step we’ll take will be to look at the whole area
of energy conservation. Environmental issues concern all of us and the
boys are now getting a head start.
