C.B.S. Primary - Credit Union Quiz Champions!

The highly popular Credit Union Quiz was held on Monday 29 January in the Ferrycarrig Hotel. The C.B.S. boys came out on top in both the Under-11 and Under-13 categories! This is the 16th year of the quiz and the competition is always very intense. The boys in the Under-11 competition had to answer a total of 60 questions spread over 10 rounds.Their winning score of 46 was 6 ahead of the second placed team from Glynn National School. A total of 16 teams competed against each other in this section. The winning team members were Matthew Devereux(Capt.), Ciaran O' Faherty, Stephen Healy and Aaron Scahill.
The Under-13 section was contested by a whopping 41 teams! To come out on top was a great achievement. The boys finished with a total of 63 out of a possible 72. This was 5 ahead of their nearest rivals,St Iberius. The Under-13 champions are Emmet Broaders(Capt.), Eoin Blake, Sean Bolger and Aaron Dangerfield.
The members of both winning teams received nice prizes from the Wexford Credit Union- pencil case, gear bag, radio and a plaque. The school also received a plaque and cheques totalling €260. The school principal, Jos Furlong, was delighted with the boys' successes. "They are a great group of boys and they represented the school very well. The organisers, Wexford Credit Union, also deserve praise. The quiz is always very well-run, the prizes are great and all the contestants enjoy a good night's entertainment".
Both teams will progress to the next stage of the competition which will be the Chapter or regional final in March. First or second place there will mean a place in the All Ireland Final which will take place in the R.D.S. in Dublin. Well done boys and "Best of Luck"!
